Is it fair that ill people will be forced to work as they can't get incapacity benefit?

How will they cope when they are genuinly ill? Will there be more child facilities so single parents can work?

Or will politicians just be allowed to make poor people look lazy %26amp; bad. While they enjoy their 2nd homes, holidays %26amp; mistresses etc.,

By focusing on the 'bad poor' everyone forgets how people can't even afford to pay rent and are forced to rely on benefits. When they don't want to at all.

You think the poor want officials checking their bank accounts all the time, checking their every move etc.,

Speed cameras are not in the poor areas like they are in the rich!Is it fair that ill people will be forced to work as they can't get incapacity benefit?
I'm old enough to remember that every government that has screwed our country financially attacks the unemployed to take the focus off of their mistakes. and the thick stupid people bark like dogs and chase the same old stick every time they throw it. this is the same government who is 'AS WE SPEAK!!' still flooding our country with immigrants all! needing financial support at the rate of over five thousand arriving every week. when will the people of this country wake up to the fact that CAPITALISM cannot function without the haves and the have not's. the employed and the unemployed, and start to feel great full that the four and a half million people that have no job are not marching angrily and demanding their share of lucrative employment. Is it fair that ill people will be forced to work as they can't get incapacity benefit?
Genuinly ill people wont be forced to work.

The whole idea of incapacity benefit is to subsidise those in society who generally need it.... especially those who have worked in the past and paid their taxes.

I think those that laze around on the dole for no reason other than its the ';easy'; option SHOULD be forced to work.. hurrahh and about bloody time!

The only way to get out of being poor is to WORK and BETTER YOURSELF - no-one said it is easy.
Another knee jerk reaction to a genuine problem - yet again, the response has not been properly thought out so will penalise those, as you say, who are genuinely ill but do not qualify for incapacity benefit. I suspect what will happen is that employers will refuse to take these people on cos their employers' liability insurance will not cover it.
It is the same with all benefits. The genuine people who claim benefit suffer at the hands of those who are dishonest and claim 'because they can'.

I think something has had to be done, as all the people who work hard for a living pay so much tax they want to see something done about the people who just claim benefits and in effect feel that they are getting a raw deal paying for people to stay at home.

We are far too soft in this country and I think if people are made to work doing things that won't affect their illness, they should feel good about it and are one of the genuine ones, it will be the complainers who are fit and healthy and worried their benefits will stop.

:o)
I think the idea of it is so that those that are faking illness are sent back to work and the government and us taxpayers only pay for the really incapacitated.

There are lots of people on benefits that really have no excuse to be. If your children are school age why can you not work in say a supermarket part time when your kids are at school.

Its designed to get the lazy off their backsides
No , I don't think it's fair at all. A few years back that happened to me (resulting in me being off for 2 years). They haven't a clue. If you were fit for work, You'd be working. Unlike like the people who have no intention of working and the government giving them money!

I'm sorry, they whole thing just completely winds me up.

Glad to say I'm fit and healthy now and back to work.
nobody wants to penalise the genuine incapacity people but we all know their are people who abuse the system just like the dishonest m.ps . However labour will not attack these people because they all tend to vote labour just take a look at the ones you know and we all know who they are
Genuine people won't have to work, but there are so many abusing the system it beggars belief and it needs to be stopped.
No one who is genuinely ill will stop getting their benefits, and I don't know where you heard this from. There are 274,000 drug addicts who are getting unemployment benefit, but do not work because of their habit. The Government will in future only pay their dole as long as they attend for treatment for their addiction. if they don't, then no more dole. They will have regular drug tests to check if they are taking treatment and if they are not, then their dole will be stopped and the Police can arrest them on charges of fraud.

As for people on incapacity benefit, they will be examined by doctors appointed by the government to check if they are incapacitated enough to not work. Cases of Depression will no longer be considered as an Incapacity, People with back problems will be found work where no lifting is required etc..

In short, the Government is rooting out the scroungers.

Young people getting dole will be given work such as litter picking and cleaning off grafitti etc. They will have to earn their Dole. When a single mother child reaches 7 years of age then the mother will have to return to work instead of getting benefits..as before the child had to be 16 years old before the benefit stopped.
Genuinely ill people would never be forced to work if a doctor doesnt see them fit, that includes mental illness, people wont be forced to work if they're severly depressed for example, or single mothers with babies as somebody said not until they are of school age The new plans target the people that are on Incapacity but are fit for some form of work, and Jobseekers that have been unemployed for over 2 years, and 2 years is more than a reasonable amount of time to find a job. Take my two uncles for instance..... one has a bad back... one only has one eye..... the one with the bad back has been on incapacity for years but he spends most of his days doing DIY, gardening, helping my nan! he does get about fine, so he IS fit for work, just nothing too phsycial. And my other uncle, he was on incapacity a long time ago because he used to earn more money on benefits than working, he has got a job now though, a good job, his loss of sight doesnt effect his work at all. Thats what they're proposing, only those fit for some form of work, so basically... they're going to dish out jobs on a plate, if that was me i would be happy, they're getting an easy job no hassle looking for one, no worrying about not having qualifications, plus it gives them confidence and something to put on their cv when they apply for other jobs
I'm sick of people moaning about speed cameras...speeding cars kill people...so if you speed you pay the fine. Don't like it? Don't speed. As for the incapacity benefit problem.....if people are genuinely ill they won't be MADE to work..but there will be a crackdown on people with fictional ';bad backs'; or ';depression';.
