Just because you use a tampon dosen't mean you'll break your hymen. However, if you've already broken it you won't break it again when you have sex for the first time. Its important to remember that a lot of girls loose their hymen before their virginity. It can break very easily. I broke mine in a car accident and a friend of mine broke hers while riding a horse. Also, a lot of females have what is called a cribform hymen, which is just a lot of strings of skin stretching across the inside of your vagina. Its more then possible that IF you're tampon is reaching that far then its just going through one of the holes. Tampons do not go in that deep, so they will not tear anything.
It's not about 'long' - it's about 'wide'. Long doesn't break your hymen - something too wide does!





If you want to use tampons, but you're still a virgin, use TAMPAX SLENDER REGULAR. It's the only brand that makes them REALLY skinny (especially for virgins).





DO NOT wear tampons overnight - you increase your risk of getting T.S.S. by using tampons at all, but even moreso if you wear them for extended periods (like overnight) Wear pads at night! Toxic Shock Syndrome is a rare but serious bacterial infection. You can DIE from it!





Try to use the tampons only when you must (swimming, gym, etc) and use pads all other times.

I believe you are talikng about your Hymen. That is the bit of skin around your vagina that is supposed to bleed when you are de-virginized. Many women and girls do not really have to worry about that anymore. Girls are much more active now and while climbing trees, riding bikes or horses or just general play, the Hymen gets stretched. Also, using tampons, mainly removing them stretches it also.


That does NOT mean you are not a virgin. It means that we are lucky and our first time having sex can possibly be more pleasurable because there is less, or no tearing.


So don't worry about using tampons, just follow the directions and you will be fine!
use the thinnest tampons avaialbe if that's your concern and even then it's not guarranteed taht you'll bleed.


Pads are more hygenic and safer.
